10th-Feb-2008 12:52 am - Ah, Valentines Day
Viggo double image
A day that many loathe and many enjoy. Then there are the faction of us that are completely indifferent to it. I, myself, think the day itself is wonderful, but find the need to be presented with nick-knacks and cards designed specifically for the day rather silly. It's a day to celebrate love, and it's completely possible to do that without cards and trinkets. But it leaves me in an awkward spot. In less than a month, I will be 24 years old and I have never once been in a relationship. I have never so much even been asked on a date. While this does not bother me, it seems to bother a lot of other people. Apparently, by the time you are 24 you should have a list of ex's and a ton of experience beneath your belt. While I have a ton of experience in other areas, I have none in the relationship department. Again I will state that this does not bother me. I am completely comfortable being my own person. I do not see the need to attach myself to someone else to find my identity, as so many others out there do. I have quite a few friends who just cannot stand going one day without having a guy to attach to. I suppose my situation is rather unique, but it doesn't mean anything. It usually makes people either a.) give me a weird look and causes them to start to scrutinize me to see what is wrong with me or b.) try to hook me up with someone. Neither situation really works out. This doesn't mean that I haven't ever had an interest in anyone. Anyone who's known me long enough knows better than to think that. It's just never really been the sort of situation that would ever go anywhere. Partly because I'm fat and unattractive, but whatever. That doesn't really bother me terribly much. I'm quite comfortable as me. This isn't to say I'm completely against the idea of ever being in a relationship. Oh it's a rather nice thought, and would be wonderful if it ever fell into place, but I'm not going to spend my life moping if it doesn't. There is too much to see and enjoy to do that.

So for valentines day, like last year, I've decided to come up with my own valentines to celebrate. The feelings go unrecipricated of course, but bah. Who cares! I went to youtube and took special care to pick out videos that demonstrated things about these guys that made me love them so.

My number one valentine will always and forever be my Viggo. The man leaves me breathless with everything he does. I know so many people who don't find him attractive outside of Aragorn, which is silly. The man is beautiful inside, and that inward beauty makes his outward appearance just glow. *sigh* Oh I'll be forever devoted to that man.

My second valentine once again will be Rex Harrison/Captain Gregg. I ADORE Rex with all my heart, and his portrayal of Captain Gregg is a thing of pure beauty. This movie holds such a dear place in my heart,as you can see by the layout I paid for, and in many other people's hearts. It's so touching and so pure. Lucy and Daniel are just wonderful and made for eachother. It's such a beautiful story, and one of my favorite parts of it is that they are able to convey so much love without ever once touching. That takes talent my friends. The book launched the movie, and the movie launched a television show. The show can't even hold a candle to the movie though.

My third choice is Alan Rickman. Oh, Alan. He is wonderful and so brilliant. There are very few out there who don't appreciate his talent. How can you not appreciate him? Every role he takes, he owns. He will forever and always have my affection, especially after he turn as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility. His Colonel Brandon is so very heart wrenching, you feel so much for his character, you just ache for him to win because of all the subtle acting Alan pulls off. It's brilliant.

Alan gets two videos, because this music video he was in never fails to make me quiver. Yes, quiver.

And finally, Sir Ian McKellan gets a special mention here. I WAS going to post the awesome blooper reel where he totally makes me love him a million times more, but New Line was a bitch and had it removed. Ah well. He's still completely amazing anyways!
